Barnegat Sail - Watercolor series
This is a collection of watercolors depicting a past long lost on the bay. A time when a trip to the Jersey Shore meant a rail trip, or steamboat excursion followed by a short sail by Cat Boat out to the Barrier island, to enjoy the sea air and sun soaked dunes. I discovered this world, while reading about my ancestors, who were Oyster man, and Inn owners on Barnegat Bay, one of whom was a character named James James known to many as “Double Jimmy”. He was owner of an 1854 Sportsman’s Lodge on Long Beach Island, which occupied the spot where Lovelady’s Coast Guard once stood. Trained as a commercial artist I’ve worked in this field for many years. My love for the sea and historic sail, have joyfully brought me to this series of watercolors. Deciding to craft custom Driftwood Frames for this series lends to a window view from an old sun bleached fishing shack, or boathouse looking out onto this long lost era on Barnegat Bay. All original Paintings are custom Framed with local driftwood. For more information on commissions or purchasing any of my works please contact me :
